The Need to Conduct Economic Evaluation Studies of Nursing Care in Iran

چکیده مقاله:

All health systems around the world are facing a lack of adequate financial resources to meet the health needs of their citizens. Health policymakers use economics and policy sciences to solve this problem and implement appropriate strategies for prioritizing and allocating limited resources to meet unlimited health needs. In this way, conducting Health Economic Evaluation studies to provide evidence to decision-makers is very important. This type of study which defines as a "comparative assessment of the costs and consequences of alternative health technologies and strategies" helps the policymakers to choose the cost-effective interventions to create the best health outcomes. As Universal Health Coverage (UHC) becomes one of the priorities of countries to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the access of all people to the services they need at a reasonable price should be considered by governments. The Covid-19 pandemic showed that only a robust health system with sufficient finance cannot guarantee people's health in the long term, but we need to find cost-effective ways to provide health services.
